The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Movie Review Overview
Rhino, Green Goblin, Electro, Gwen Stacey and The Amazing Spider-Man in the 2nd Movie.
Marvel’s Amazing Spiderman 2 Opening Night May 2nd, 2014 Review
I love this picture I took of the little boy looking at Spider-Man with such excitement, astonishment, and amazement. Wow! It brings back memories and it is great to see little kids still just as excited about Spider-Man these days as when I was a kid. Great Job Marvel! Looks like another generation of “True Believers” will live on…
I start to ask how many times can Marvel Comics make Spiderman movies and will they still be good? Silly Question! Why of course they will still be good and this one didn’t let us down either. In fact, I thought this was much better then Amazing Spiderman 1 with the Lizard. That said,…
Action Packed! Full of the witty humor we have all grown to know and love from Spidey, with of course multiple battles and fight scenes, the love and romance tension, the search to find one’s self, Peter’s search for the truth about his parents, and more…
The Marvel Movie Overview
The movie opens with our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man tracking down bad guys and sharing humorous anecdotes along the way. He sets the stage of Peter Parker’s relationship with Gwen Stacey as he is fighting to save a run away Stolen Oscorp truck filled with Plutonium. Peter saves the day, saves Max Dillon AKA “Electro”, Max’s Blueprints, and makes it in the nick of time to his graduation with Gwen.
Though Electro looks considerably different from his original appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man Comic Book #9 published in 1964, I think it was a good remake for the times. I still love all the crazy costumes they drew and made up, but his look in the movie just seemed to flow better and was more believable and realistic.
Peter fights throughout the movie with the love he has for Gwen and the promise he made to her father in the 1st Amazing Spider-man movie before he lost his life in battle. Peter promised to let Gwen go because everyone he gets close to is in danger. This story rings true to the original early comics in the 1970’s with the issue of “The Death of Gwen Stacey” is played out quite well in this Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie.

As The Story Unfolds
We see Harry Osborn re-introduced to his father Norman Osborn on his death bed. His father makes a gripping statement about how “he never expected to die in the presence of a stranger.” As he dies, he passes on the keys to the castle of Oscorp that hold all the secrets to technology, inventions, and of course the Green Goblin.
Enter The Spawn of Electro and the Green Goblin
As Peter fights with his own demons and his constant psychological battle of being Spider-Man, Harry fights with his deteriorating health and a cure. In a quest to get blood from Spider-Man to cure him he finds the secret files that unleash the spawn of the Green Goblin and the truth about Max Dillon who is now Electro. Harry strikes a deal with Electro after being fired and banished from his own company to regain control and eliminate spiderman in the process.
Spider-Man vs Electro
Spidey battles Electro with the help of Gwen Stacey and is able to use Max’s own blueprint to defeat him. But no sooner does he beat Electro when along comes the Green Goblin for round two of the fight.
Unlike the Superman movie where the fight scenes appear to go on for way too long. These fight scenes were done in such a way that you kept wanting more and never got bored. The scenes and scenery continue to change.
Being from Rochester, NY I take great pride in knowing that there was a portion of this movie shot and filmed in our own great city. As it should be Spider-Man and NY.
Spider-Man vs The Green Goblin
Though this fight scene was brief, it was long enough to stay true to form with the comic books and “The Death of Gwen Stacey”. A gripping fight scene as or web-head attempts to defeat the Green Goblin and save Gwen and the same time. In the suspense, though his web does catch her it is only a moment too late and Peter’s worse fears come to life. He has lost the girl he loves.
Conclusion – Rhino
After Gwen’s death we see Harry orchestrating a crime enlisting the services of the Rhino. The closing scene is with Spidey coming back after a brief hiatus as Spider-Man to enter into a battle with the Rhino. The movie closes with spider-man battling the the Rhino and preparing us for Amazing Spider-Man 3.
